53rd WATERMELON FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES RETURN OF CELEBRITY CHEF POON WITH SPECIAL APPEARANCE BY 2014 NATIONAL WATERMELON QUEEN, BRANDI HARRISON.

The 53rd Sunland-Tujunga Lions Club Watermelon Festival, being held July 19 and 20 at Santa Anita Park, is please to announce the return of Celebrity Chef Joseph Poon. His appearances last year were a huge hit with festival goers in the Watermelon Pavilion. His upbeat personality, along with his easy carving techniques, for the everyday cook, won the hearts of the crowd. The 2014 National Watermelon Queen is Brandi Harrison of Newberry, Florida. The twenty three year old Promotion Ambassador for the National Watermelon Association is a graduate of Gulf Coast University and holds degrees in Communications and Public Relations. She will be on hand to announce the 53rd Watermelon Festival’s Royal Court on the Main Stage, and in the Watermelon Pavilion to give selection tips, nutritional information and discuss the economical value of watermelon.
