It might be a little late, but better late than never. Now that we’ve somewhat recovered, the Lions Club of Sunland Tujunga would just like to say, “Thank You!”
Thank you to everyone who came out and made this year’s 51st Annual Watermelon Festival a success. Sunland Park experienced a scorcher that weekend as Los Angeles dealt with record high temperatures, but your support and patronage made it all worth it. The community of Sunland Tujunga will benefit greatly from the proceeds.
The money we raised this year will support:
- Verdugo Hills High School Athletic Program
- Verdugo Hills High School 4th of July Fireworks Show
- Sunland Tujunga Rotary Club’s July 4th Parade
- McGroarty Arts Center
- MEND Poverty Center
- 60+ more charities and local organizations
We’d like to thank all the incredible bands and musicians who performed at the Watermelon Festival throughout the weekend. This year’s entertainment was the best we’ve had yet! We want to also thank all our wonderful vendors who participated in this year’s Watermelon Festival. From food vendors and watermelon carving artists to merchants and local community clubs, thank you for your involvement.
Last but not least and most importantly, we’d like to thank all our volunteers, staff, and contractors! You all did an amazing job given the tall tasks you faced. We cannot thank you enough for your dedication and tireless efforts (some of you without sleep). This is a thankless job, but hopefully it’s still personally rewarding. You took action to actually do something for your community without asking for anything in return. It’s the kind of selfless and generous act that keeps this town strong. You are all responsible for making this community’s biggest fundraising festival happen each and every year – we couldn’t do it without you.
We hope to have you all back and see everyone in 2013 for the 52nd Annual Watermelon Festival at our new venue, the Pasadena Rose Bowl, on Aug. 16, 17, 18. With our best wishes, have a wonderful year!
